Sculptural Glass with Siobhan Healy

 

29th August - 19th September (Monday eves, 6-8.30pm)

Glasgow Sculpture Studios, The Whisky Bond, 2 Dawson Road, Glasgow, G4 9SS

 

This four-week course is an introduction to using glass as a sculptural material. Participants will be introduced to several methods of joining glass to create 3D glass using lead; solder; soldering irons; wire and epoxy glue in combination with the Copperfoil method will be the primary technique. Participants will also have access to clear, coloured and textured glass and will learn how to cut glass and combine it with metal to create expressive

sculptural forms.

 

No prior experience necessary.  Participants must be a minimum 16 years of age,

Amanda Baron: Open Studio

Amanda Baron welcomes visitors to her garden studio.  This small stained glass studio provides an insight into Baron´s working practices and offers the public the opportunity to buy unique handcrafted glass items direct from the artist.

 

 

Leaded Glass workshop

We admire the leaded glass of the past in churches and houses. This colourful decoration can be produced today by anyone with some application and guidance.

 

Through the process of creating a panel, you will learn the traditional skills of using a cartoon, cutting glass, assembling with lead came, soldering and finishing the panel. At the end of the two days, you will take a small

panel home with you.

A rare and exciting opportunity to try glass blowing, no previous experience needed. We will start with an introduction of equipment and materials needed for this ancient craft followed by demos and then it’s your turn!  

We will be making a solid paperweight, a blown tumbler of your choice, for ex whisky, gin or juice and finally we make a blown bauble. (Please note pieces will require overnight cooling before being collected/posted out)

Learn how to record stained glass windows

Scottish Stained Glass Trust & Symposium has begun a massive project to record all stained glass windows in Scotland for their online database.  At this workshop we will work through the process of creating and submitting

an entry for the database. This workshop will serve as the unofficial launch of our SCRAN Database Training

Guide, which will give volunteers and community groups the opportunity to submit Stained Glass windows into the database.
